Growth Tab and Skool Ads

The Growth Tab

The Growth tab shows you how your community is growing and how Skool is promoting your community through Growth Boost. You can track your group's Growth Level and what you need to reach the next Level.

To find it, open your community, click on SETTINGS, then select Growth in the left sidebar.

The Growth tab sections

The Growth tab is split into a few sections:

Your level. Your community's current Growth Boost level (1–4), along with the requirements to reach the next level and your progress toward each one.

Level requirements. The numbers that determine your level, measured over the last 30 days: About page visitors and new paid customers.

Your ads. The ads Skool is automatically generating and running for your community. Skool creates up to 10 ad variations using your cover image, About page, and pricing.

How Growth levels work

Growth Boost is how Skool promotes your community. Skool spends its own ad budget on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) to run ads for your community and boost you in Skool Discovery.

Members you bring in yourself only pay the standard payment processing fee.

Your level is based on your results over the last 30 days. The better your community performs, the more Skool invests in promoting it.

Level Requirements (last 30 days) What you get
Level 1 Below the Level 2 thresholds Your community appears in Skool's carousel ads. You'll need to drive your own traffic to move up.
Level 2 100 About page visitors and 1 new paying member Skool generates custom ads for your community. Ad spend isn't guaranteed — it depends on how your ads perform.
Level 3 3,000 About page visitors and 10 Skool Network sign-ups, plus consistent organic promotion A dedicated ad campaign with more creatives and meaningful daily spend.
Level 4 10,000 About page visitors and 30 Skool Network sign-ups, plus consistent organic promotion A partnership-level campaign with the highest spend and custom video ads.

"Consistent organic promotion" means you're actively sending people to your community yourself — for example, your Skool link is in your social bios and YouTube descriptions, and you're posting regularly. It's tracked automatically.

Running your own ads counts as organic promotion.

Definitions

About page visitors — Non-members who viewed your community's About page in the last 30 days. Each visitor is counted once per traffic source.

Skool Network sign-ups — Members who joined after discovering you through Skool itself: Discovery, Skool ads, the recommended communities sidebar, or another member's profile. Members who land on your group's About page through your own traffic sources (YouTube, social media, emails) and then join, are not counted as Skool Network sign-ups.

Level — Your current Growth Boost tier, from 1 to 4. Higher levels mean Skool invests more in promoting your community.

How your ads are created

Skool builds your ads automatically. You don't need to write copy, design creatives, or set a budget.

Your ads pull from:

  • Your community cover image (1084×576 recommended)
  • Your About page — title, description, images, and videos
  • Your pricing

When you make a significant change to any of these, your ads refresh automatically (usually within about an hour). Skool rotates and tests different versions to find what converts best, so the set of ads you see may change over time.

Not seeing any ads yet? This is normal if:

  • You're at Level 1 and haven't met the Level 2 thresholds
  • Your community is new, and Skool doesn't have enough data yet (it typically takes 2–4 weeks for the system to evaluate conversion and retention)
  • Your community is free or freemium — Skool only runs ads for paid communities
  • Your ads are still being generated — during rollout you may see fewer than 10 at first
  • Your group doesn't qualify — Meta has an acceptable policy, so certain niches are excluded

How to level up

The fastest way to improve your level is to drive more traffic to your About page and convert more of it.

Drive traffic to your About page. Put your Skool link everywhere — YouTube descriptions, social bios, email signatures, podcast show notes. Every visitor counts toward your 30-day total, and it helps Skool attribute where your growth is coming from.

Make your About page convert. Your About page is the landing page for every visitor, and the source material for every ad. Use a clear headline, a strong cover image or video, and a description that explains exactly who the community is for and what they'll get.

Price for conversion. Paid communities perform better than free or freemium ones in Growth Boost. Growth Boost isn't a fit for high-ticket offers that require a sales call.

Keep members around. Retention matters. Skool looks at trial-to-paid conversion and how long members stay when deciding how much to invest in your community.

Note: Your level can go down as well as up. If your 30-day numbers drop below a threshold, you'll move to the lower level. You can recover by increasing traffic and conversion.

FAQ

Do I pay for the ads? No. Skool pays for all ad spend. You only pay the 30% commission on paid members who join through the Skool Network.

Does the commission apply to members I bring in myself? No. Members who join through your own links pay only the standard processing fee. Skool uses last-touch attribution with a 14-day window for the Skool Network to decide which members count.

Does reaching Level 2 guarantee Skool will run ads for me? No. Level 2 unlocks custom ads, but how much Skool spends depends on how well those ads perform compared to other communities. Also, ads must follow Meta's acceptable policy to be generated—this depends on the group's niche.

How often do the numbers update? Your stats and level are based on a rolling 30-day window and update continuously.

Can I edit or choose which ads run? No. Ads are generated automatically.

Do the ads update when I make changes? The ads refresh when you change your price, cover image, or make big changes to your about page. It can take up to 1 hour for the ads to refresh.

Where can I see which traffic sources are bringing in members? See Traffic Sources & Growth Boost for a full breakdown of visitors, sign-ups, and conversion rate by source.

What if I don't like AI ads? If you don't like your ads and never want to see them again, you can turn off AI-generated ads. We'll delete them, and we won't generate them again. We will only use your cover image as an ad.

How can I help Skool drive more traffic? Add high-quality images to your cover photo and About page, and keep pricing affordable for the mass market. Additionally, you can increase the Growth Boost from 30% to more.
